905 voters worry about the cost of higher ed, want more government investment: OCUFA poll.
Voters in the 905 area code believe tuition is too high and worry about the cost of higher education, according to new OCUFA polling data. The so-called “905” comprises the densely populated areas surrounding Toronto, such as Hamilton, St Catharines, Brampton, Whitby, and Oshawa. A large majority of those polled – 65 per cent – believe a freeze on government funding for postsecondary education would have a negative impact on Ontario’s colleges and universities. Only four per cent believe such a freeze would have a positive effect.
The poll, commissioned by OCUFA and the Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario (CFS-O), found that 80 per cent of 905 residents are concerned about the accessibility of higher education, while 70 per cent believe tuition fees are too high …
